This parking garage in Veldhoven in the Netherlands fits up to 3000 vehicles perfectly. During peak times, however, it can get busy in the parking complex, which increases search times, causes congestion, and makes the parking experience decay considerably. In order to unblock the floors and improve mobility in and around the parking garage, a parking guidance system was the required solution. However, the owner didn’t just want any kind of parking guidance – they wanted a system based on cameras.

The solution –  ParkHelp Camera-Based Parking Guidance

ParkHelp’s camera-based solution offers several advantages for parking managers and drivers. The vehicle detection module, developed by our partner Innova Systems, provides the highest accuracy a camera system has ever been able to achieve. The high-visibility RGB LED indicator lights effectively help drivers locate free parking spaces and the camera system offers real-time images of every parking spot. The unique design of the sensor and connectors makes the installation quick and easy and the remote pan/tilt function of the cameras allows for hassle-free, comfortable configuration.

In the first phase of the project, 45 camera sensors were installed on the most problematic zones of eight floors, covering a whole of 262 parking spaces. Initially, the sunlight entering the parking garage made it hard for the system to detect vehicles correctly, but with the help of ParkHelp’s team of project managers and the camera’s deep learning capability, the system could be trained, achieving an unbelievable 99,5% accuracy.

The system being scalable, an extension can be installed at any time, integrating all sensors in one single system. ParkManager is the software that manages all ParkHelp sensors and signs remotely. We want to congratulate our partner Traffic Safety Systems on the fantastic execution of this project. Now the users of this parking garage will find a parking spot much easier and faster.
