The world is an amazing place. Think about it: by using just the phone in your pocket you can jump on Instagram, thumbscroll through dozens of food pics, find a new restaurant by chance, and make a reservation for tonight – all without leaving the comfort and solitude of your bathroom.

What a world!

Do you know what would make it better? If that reservation included a parking space. This new boutique bistro is in the warehouse district, and it doesn’t have its own parking lot. And that’s not the only reason you would want to reserve a parking space.

There are plenty of other reasons why you’d want to reserve a parking space, including:

  • An electric vehicle that needs EV charging, and you need a space with charging capabilities.
  • A large truck that can’t fit in a compact space.
  • You have a classic vehicle, and you want an extra wide space to prevent others from dinging your doors.
  • You need an accessible parking space for a wheelchair or other assistance device.
  • You’re concerned about safety, and you want to reserve a space that is well lit.

The funny thing is, we already have the pieces of technology needed to do this, we just connect them and flip the switch. And that’s what ParkHelp is here to do.

Right now, the world is pretty good. Technology gives us the ability to access pretty much anything – from planning elaborate trips to buying tickets to a baseball game. There are even apps that allow you to reserve parking spaces.

However, many lots that take “reservations” through parking space locator apps don’t have any way to manage parking inventory. Even worse, there’s no way for these lots to hold a specific parking space.

So, people who think they’ve reserved a space, are still driving around a multi-level parking structure screaming, “where the hell can I actually park!?!”

Think about how crazy that is. When you buy a ticket for a baseball game, to you buy a ticket and then walk around searching for an empty seat? No, you buy a ticket for a specific seat at the game.

What’s the point of giving drivers the power to reserve parking spaces if you can’t guide them right to those empty spaces?

We have a very specific vision for the future of parking. We see people being able to not only reserve a space – but have complete control over the location, size and setting of that space.

Truck owners should have the ability to reserve larger parking spaces. Electric car drivers should be able to reserve spaces with charging stations. If you prefer a well-lit space close to the door, then you should be able to get one.

Heck, if you want to park in the same space every day when you go to work, that should be an option, too.

Imagine a world where parking comes with more visibility, more transparency, more control.

You could hop in your Tesla in San Francisco bound for Los Angeles. From the dashboard of your car you could navigate to the halfway point in San Luis Obispo, book a parking space with a charging station near a hip new restaurant, and enjoy a lovely meal while your car recharges – completely hassle free.

This is the world we envision; all we need to do is flip the switch.
