When the lockdowns began in March, most of us hoped the Covid-19 Crisis was only temporary and we’d soon be getting “back to normal.” As the end of the year rapidly approaches, it’s clear that normal isn’t coming back anytime in the near future.

But, just because we miss “normal,” doesn’t mean that normal was always good. Take parking, for instance.

How great was it to drive around searching for a spot? Pay and park in a nasty parking garage? Forgetting where your car was parked? Getting booted, ticketed or towed because you were a little late or missed a warning sign?

None of these things are acceptable, and we need to demand that the old way of parking is not included in “back to normal” strategies. It’s time to change everything!

  • There is no reason you should drive around an airport, mall, office park or major city looking for an empty space – you should already know where a spot is, and it should be waiting for you
  • You shouldn’t have to pay for parking in a building that feels unsafe and unclean – you should always feel protected where you park
  • You shouldn’t have to pay for parking with cash, rely on a valet to find a space in a garage or have to get change from a convenience store – cash is no longer king
  • There is no reason you should fear getting towed for staying too long in a space – that’s not good for the customer, or good for the business

Imagine a world where you don’t have to worry if there’s a parking spot near your destination. Instead, you’ll be guided directly to a reserved or open spot, in a safe and clean parking structure or lot of your choice – no hassles, no congestion, no wasted time.

As customers once again start venturing out to stores, work, airports, casinos and more, they don’t want to go back to the old way of parking. They want parking to be simpler, safer and more convenient.

At ParkHelp, we feel that with Coronavirus changing the way people do many things, why not parking? It makes sense, because:

  • When we make parking structures safer and make it easy for people to find spaces, pay for them and feel secure, businesses will be more successful when they re-open
  • People value safety and security, and they don’t mind paying a fair price for a good service
  • Better parking raises the profile of your business, and creates a better experience for your customers

We don’t have all the answers yet, but in this series of newsletters we will discuss some of the ways we can boost your parking profile now and things we’re working on to address parking issues in the future.

This pandemic really is temporary, and we will recover and make the world a better place. We believe going back to normal doesn’t have to mean going back to the way it was, and together we can create a better future – through parking.
